MY FRUSTRATION WITH GLASSES

I have only one word to describe my feelings towards glasses. And that word is HATE. I hate the way they way they make me look, the way they won't stay in place and slide down my nose, the way they're always getting dirty, the way they're always getting lost, twisted and broken. I hate the way they fly off my face when I take my shirt off, the way they feel like you're still wearing them when you're not, and the way I have to wear them all of the time.

Hate, hate, hate!

Does that seem a little strong? Maybe, but let me explain. Not long after I started wearing glasses, I noticed that people treated me differently. They saw me differently. It was like I suddenly didn't get the same respect that I did before. And I saw myself differently, too. The person I saw in the mirror wearing those glasses was NOT me. It was like looking at a stranger.

You see I didn't grow up wearing glasses. In fact, at one time my vision tested out at 20/15. So I never thought of myself as a "glasses wearing guy." But about ten years ago all that changed. My eyesight went bad and I needed to take the plunge. At first, I was ecstatic. I could see again! But that quickly died when I started to become accustomed to the beating that glasses really are.

And I should have realized that was going to happen. My dad has worn glasses his whole life and I saw him deal with all of those things, too. I watched him try contacts, which were an even bigger beating. And I watched him switch back. So I've never had the highest opinion of glasses.

But you're probably wondering, "Hasn't Lasik been around for ten years, Tom? Why didn't you do that instead of glasses?"

My one word answer to that is Fear. I can't even put drops in my eyes, so the idea of actually having a procedure done was too much for me to take.

But after talking to a ton of people and doing a ton of research, I've decided to give it a shot. So I'm going to one of Dr. Tylock's free information seminars. I'm going to check the place out for myself and hear what they have to say. Then I'll decide if Lasik is right for me.

If you're like me and want more information about Lasik, do what I did. Check out www.Tylock.com and give them a call at 1-800-New-Eyes to schedule your free info seminar (and tell them Tom from The Ticket told you to call).

Thanks and look for my future posts.
